About Skim Milk Powder
Skim milk—also known as non‑fat milk—is cow’s milk from which virtually all of the milk fat has been removed. By definition, skim milk contains no more than 0.5% milk fat (often rounded down to 0%). This low fat content gives skim milk a thinner texture and a lighter taste compared to low‑fat (1–2% fat) or whole milk (about 3.5–4% fat).
Despite its minimal fat, skim milk still delivers nearly the same amount of key nutrients as higher‑fat milks:
Protein: ~8 g per 240 mL (1 cup)
Calories: ~80 kcal per cup
Calcium: ~300 mg per cup (≈30% of the Daily Value)
Vitamin D: Often fortified to ~100 IU per cup
Carbohydrates (lactose): ~12 g per cup
